Prayer 2

Posted by Evan Liewer Saturday, June 30, 2007 0 comments

So another week in the discussion of prayer. As James closes his prayer using the word prayer 7 times we can see the importance of prayer to him. This week we looked at the concepts of healing prayers as well as how we should be in continual prayer IN all things.

So tonight we talked about Prayer, and that was it. Just Prayer. Prayer is such an important part of our faith, yet many of us dont spend enough time with God in prayer. If you need to remember the memory device for the different elements of prayer, here it is:

Acts
Confession
Thanksgiving
Supplication

Wavelength filling up!

Well, we take off for the Houseboat trip on July 7th and I couldn't be any more jazzed. All planning has gone along smoothly and I have some really exciting things to do. There are only like 10 spots left and in about a week the price jumps up $25. So if you have no desire to pay an extra $25 or you want to guarantee yourself a spot before it fills up, please, please turn your money in ASAP. I would love to see so many people go so please dont procrastinate and think you can just sign-up later, legally on the boat we can only take so many people, and I want that person to be you! So get you act together and turn your deposit in!
Also the flyer does state that the speaker is a "Legendary Speaker" and that couldn't be any truer. But then you have to step back and think how would you define legendary? Someone that has slayed a dragon? Someone who is Time's Person of the Year? Someone who parachutes out of a plane in a frozen tundra, just to see if they can survive? Someone that has swam the Atlantic? Someone that has wrestled a bear? Perhaps one who has eaten their weight in hot dogs. Well as you conjure up new ways to define legendary, let me simply state this, our speaker is one of those definitions of legendary. Which one you ask, well on July 7th you will find out. I am excited because the speaker is someone you know of, but have never heard as a Speaker....

Patience

In Scripture we are called to wait. But does this mean to wait in line? Are we supposed to grab some beach chairs and wait patiently for the Lord's return? James answers this question for us!

Apple Got its act together

Well my friend Brett Schorr (dot com) gave me some great news this morning. With apple updating their web browser Safari to the brand shiny new Version 3, it can now properly display the Frequency Website. Now Safari always had the ability to display the site, but poor users of Safari were unable to use the pull tab at the top. And as a reminder if you havent experienced the pull tab, try it now, just click that thing that says pull. Amazing huh! So if you are running Safari 2 upgrade to version3 (or better yet get firefox) Have a beautiful day my friend as slowly day by day another school is let out for summer!

Youth Sunday

So this past Sunday was Youth Sunday, and what an awesome day it was. The Costa Rica team showed up bright and early at 8am to get the Sanctuary completely made, I mean we had to place envelopes on every seat and rocks under every chair. And it looks like I bought a few too many rocks, some new High Schoolers thought it might be fun to play a joke on Matt and cover his desk with rocks everywhere. It was hilarious if you ask me. Who knows what i will do with them now. But the service went really well, everyone I spoke to had a good time. If you missed it, you can click here to watch the service online, as you can see from the photo my message was called "David and Saul and Goliath". The HS band did an awesome job, we even had Bri lead some songs from the piano which was just sweet. Also the JHigh band player which was cool. After 2nd service we had a BBQ and that was so much fun, the coolest part is we bought exactly the number of burgers that we needed, and no one returned their burger (something that has happened in the past). Thank you to all who helped it was an awesome morning!
